About Carinhoso
Carinhoso means "lovingly" — and that feeling is at the heart of the music.
Carinhoso is dedicated to the beauty and richness of Brazilian music, from the intimate sounds of bossa nova
to the passionate rhythms of samba canção.
With warm vocals, rich harmonies and subtle arrangements, Carinhoso creates the atmosphere of a relaxed Rio café, while leaving room for the spontaneous energy and rhythms that invite people to listen, sing along and dance.
Although Brazilian music is at the heart of the repertoire, Carinhoso also takes occasional musical detours into music from other parts of South America. The repertoire also includes original songs written by guitarist and vocalist Marco Antonio Sanchez.
Carinhoso is available for live performances in different formations, from an intimate duo to a trio or quartet, depending on the occasion, venue and desired atmosphere.
A lifelong love for Brazilian music
Bodhi Sykora’s love for Brazilian music started when she was only eleven years old, after discovering the soundtrack of the film Orfeu Negro and the music of Baden Powell on an old cassette tape.
She was captivated by the beauty of the Portuguese language, the melodies and the rhythms. Later, during her studies at the conservatory and through lessons with Brazilian music specialist Josée Koning, this passion grew even stronger.
After travelling to Rio de Janeiro, she knew she wanted to create a tribute to Música Popular Brasileira. This resulted in the album Falar de Amor
